OMG, looks like the storm is heading right at us:
"The coastal towns of Kuşadası and Didim in the province of Aydın were expected to be hit hard by the hurricane, according to meteorological models.
While the port authorities of the two towns issued a ban on boat departures, Turkey’s Meteorological Agency warned millions of Turks living in coastal areas."
Yes, we were incredibly lucky that the storm changed direction and passed us by. Our municipality was ready, there was a crisis management centre and emergency points, AKUT and 1200 staff were standing by, caterpillars and other heavy equipment were lined up and ready to go.
Some parts of Greece unfortunately were hit by the storm, it's scary to watch:
My hubby went off on another ship via Istanbul to Ukraine on the day the storm was forecast ... I was quite terrified of facing such as this alone ... but luckily he kept messaging me to reassure me it was moving North ... awful for those in the thick of it though ... wherever ...
