Corona arrived in Turkey

Hi Karinbea - do you know the hospitalisations, ICU & death figures. Are they on the up. I feel we will all get the virus, most will survive. If you feel at risk re your metabolic profile etc you might consider taking Vit D. 3,000-9,000 IUs per day is a good idea. Please do your own research & consult your Dr. Wishing you good health. Bren
Oh BTW Have you seen Wuhan lately the locals are rocking it with parties 24x7 - funny old world this.

Please look up page 6, post from Jul20 in this thread to see the DAILY CORONAVIRUS TABLE OF TURKEY
and yes, unfortunately the numbers are on the rise in Turkey!
Everybody stay safe, stay healthy until this pandemic is over

We have travel insurance for COVID and private health insurance also. Obviously hoping to stay healthy by observing social distance wearing a mask and frequent hand washing etc.

And many people from Izmir have second homes in Kusadasi and travel down most weekends! We don’t intend to go out too much If and when we get there.

If only everyone was like you Peril ... what I have seen in Centrum over the past weeks has been shocking and selfish behaviour from many ... though sadly, mainly foreign tourists latterly...

Hi Peril, I am hearing from others for the last past few weeks that all the hospitals are here full already in Izmir.
And whats that private insurance against covid19? Is it Turkish one?

An Irish policy that extends to cover travel outside of Ireland. It is our Irish private health insurer with foreign travel added. We have arrived and yes I became aware of the seriousness of the situation in İzmir just before we travelled. We also have travel insurance from Irelsnd which covers COVID. We don’t intend to do very much while we’re here- no trips to izmir Istanbul or Antalya and certainly no trips to any of the Greek isles. We hope to escape COVID by always wearing the masks and sanitising hands as often as possible as well as avoiding crowded places. Today we were in centrum - most people wore masks - unfortunately sone wore them on their elbows or around their necks and others left their noses free. They obviously think life is cheap.

On all flights to Turkey passengers can get an insurance cover for covid treatment in Turkey, should it become neccessary!
THY and Sunexpress offer Güneş Sıgorta, Pegasus has Gulf Sıgorta, the only one that also covers repatriation of remains.
Be aware that with an out network insurance policy the patient has to pay for any treatment in Turkey! (before reclaiming it!)

The policy pays medical expenses for patients with a confirmed Covid-19 diagnosis who are treated in hospital. If the patient is hospitalized with an in-network provider, payment is made directly by the Güneş Sigorta authorization system. Payments for out-of-network providers are made by the patient.
For the payment of claims for patients admitted to the hospital or to intensive care with a confirmed diagnosis of Covid-19, the admitting hospital must submit a request to the authorization department of Güneş Sigorta. If the hospital is a pandemic hospital, but an out-of-network provider, payment is made by the patient.

Apparently from today on us expats need a HES KODU to be able to travel domestically (dolmuş, bus, train, plane)
as well as to enter official government / municipality / public buildings and banks in Turkey:
