Turk Telekom Kusadasi

The team at Kusadasi PTT can be found at their offices in the town centre (near the big red Bank named T C Zirrat Bankasi).

They are a great team and will help you with all your comms requirements. You need to go upstairs to the second floor for any new line installation requirements and be prepared to join the unorderly queue. Do NOT expect to be in and out in 10 minutes and be patient.

Whether or not our new home has an existing line, you will still be required to furnish your property deeds and your passport to get the bills in your own name.

Turk Telekom which provides all fixed phone lines in Turkey announced new telephone tariffs in August 2004.

They offer five tarriffs to subscribers.

All taxes are included to the charges.

A 50% discount will be applied to local and dial up internet connections between 20.00 and 08.00, Monday to Saturday, and 24 hours on Sundays, whichever tariff is chosen.

Dial up internet is available as is ISDN however, in the present climate you will find that ADSL (Broadband) is a far better and economical solution.

You can apply for telephone and Internet ADSL services together.

ADSL is available up to 2Mbit however, I can promise you unless your house is next door to PTT you will never get the performance. The best option for anyone requiring speed is a mere 512k at 88YTL per month or if you only use the internet occasionally 256k at 44YTL per month.

Tarrifs are available here:

http://www.telekom.gov.tr/webtech/eng_default.asp?sayfa_id=71

ADSL or Broadband keeps you connected to the Internet 24hrs a day 365 days a year at a fixed monthly cost. Its a great way of staying in touch with home and is not expensive.

You will require a ADSL modem for your computer and these can be bought for around 100 dollars.

Please remember that unlike the UK, the telekom Co. will only get the telephone line up and running. It is up to you to get the internet connected to your computer.

Dont worry, if you get stuck just drop a post here and we can advise.

Broadband availability

Hi there, we're thinking of moving to live in Kusadasi from the UK and it would be essential that we had a broadband connection in order to work. Do you know if there are restrictions or limits on where Broadband is available? Are there certain areas to avoid if we're buying property? Hope you can help.

In Kusadasi, you may subscribe to Turkisk Telecom's ADSL service (This service is now providing most of the parts of Kusadasi). But you may subscribe to any dial up connection service in any area.

Phone line and Broadband

Hi. we have a house in the Davutlar area. We will be going there for about 6 weeks each summer. Is it possible to have a phone line and broadband connected for the time we spend there and have it disconnected for the rest of the year?
Is 512bps broadband slow there ?

i am not sure that ADSL service is available for your area. you can subscribe to the service and unsubscribe as well. but thats lil bit bureaucratic i think.
